いつも月遅れで読むillustration誌。

９月号はあの傑作「The ARRIVAL」を描いたショーン・タンの特集があった。あの独特の世界はいったいどうやって作られたのか？

インタビューと製作過程のスケッチが紹介されていたが、普通のイラストレータの手法と大きく変わるところはない。ARRIVALについては安物の画用紙に鉛筆でスケッチした後に、彩色とデジタル処理を施したものだった。

やはりと思ったのは膨大なスケッチ。神がディテールに宿ることは間違いない。
